It is Not too Late

12-7-13 It is Not too Late

In January 2008, I was blessed with a large amount of money.  But shortly thereafter, I no longer had a job.  My wife and I were living in Los Angeles where the cost of living is very high.  I thought of relocating us but did not until a year and a half later.  A few months after moving, I landed a job after being unemployed for approximately two years.  Relocating earlier would have saved us thousands of dollars because the cost of living is now more affordable.

For years I struggled to forgive myself for making the bad decision to move later rather than sooner.  Part of me felt that I wasted part of the money God blessed us with, which set some of our personal and financial goals back.  But it was not too late for God to come through for us!

We really wanted a home so we could stop renting and obtain a bigger place for a growing family.  We rented for three years after moving from Los Angeles but then decided to make a bold move toward home ownership.  After visiting many communities we went to our favorite one on a Sunday afternoon mainly to ask how flexible the builder was in customizing the home to us.  We doubted we could have even afforded to live there.  However, we made a deposit to hold a lot in case we opted to move forward.  It was a good thing we did because that Thursday another buyer tried to secure the same lot.  This was significant because it was the only one available in the limited inventory that would enable us to build the floor plan we desired.  The acquisition even turned out better than we anticipated because the builder granted us many favorable concessions.

Just as how God came through for us, He can for you too.  Maybe when you look at yourself you think that you or your time is too far gone and you no longer have the opportunity to have your heart’s desire.  But it is not too late.  What may seem impossible to you is possible with God (Matthew 19:26).  Trust Him today.

The time came but now it’s gone

You think, as you sink into feeling forlorn

But what you see as impossible

The Almighty God sees as possible

Perfect time and chance, gone with the breeze

Can miraculously return when winds change, with ease

For when the season is ripe for your picking

Your fruit will appear and be sweet for the licking
